The Government Information Office of the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan published a series of posters in July 1997, devoted to several aspects of Chinese culture. It was part of a decades' long effort to show to the world that on Taiwan, Chinese culture was cherished and had flourished unimpeded. The aim was to contrast Taiwan in this respect with the Mainland, where destructive campaigns like the Cultural Revolution had disrupted culture.
