Zhang Huaixin (1921-1985) was born in Xiyang, Shanxi Province. He joined the revolution in 1938 and started his artistic career in 1945. Eventually Zhang became a professional painter and editor of the Shanxi Branch of the Chinese Artists Association. Several of his works are in the collection of the Taiyuan Art Museum.

Zhang excelled at New Year paintings.
