Lei Zhengmin (1933) is from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. He graduated from the Art School of North China University in 1949 and completed his studies at the Central Art Academy Art Cadre Course in 1951. Lei has been a section head of the Culture Department of the Political Department of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and an editor at the August One Film Studios.

His "Marriage Registration" (1950) is an early work, created when we was still at the Academy. Later, Lei became well known for his art criticism, calligraphy and Chinese landscape painting.
