The PLA's self-image in 1962
The PLA always has been a favored subject in propaganda posters. This can be partly explained because the Army itself was a prolific poster producer. When looking at the posters as they have been produced over the years, we can see how the organization saw itself, both as a fighting force and as part of the People's Republic as it was taking shape.
