These posters were on display from 14 June to 21 September 2008, in the Kunsthal, Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Sports and Olympics

Under close attention of the international media, China and Beijing hosted the 2008 Olympics. Sports have always been important in the People's Republic of China, as you can see in these presentations of posters from the 1950s to the present:

Hua Guofeng

Hua Guofeng, Mao's successor and Deng Xiaoping's predecessor, died on 20 August 2008. Under his leadership the Gang of Four was arrested and the Cultural Revolution brought to a close. He prepared China for the process of economic reform and modernization that is usually associated with Deng Xiaoping's 1978 proposals.

Earthquake Relief Posters
