Huang Miaofa (黄妙发)

Huang Miaofa (1938) is a native from Shanghai. He did not receive formal art training. In 1956, he joined the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House [上海人民美术出版社, Shanghai renmin meishu chubanshe], where he designed New Year pictures. He became editor in the New Year Picture Department in 1973. Currently, he heads the New Year Pictures and Propaganda Print Editorial Section.

Despite his many editorial responsibilities, Huang continues to design New Year pictures.
